Why I got the ‘Dream’ paper airplane
I’ve always wanted to be a pilot, but I was always told I wouldn’t get it.
Then, when I was a freshman at the University of Southern California, I watched an instructional video that described the process of getting a plane.
“When you get the paper airplane,” the narrator said, “you just put it in the back of your mind and fly.”
I was blown away.
The moment I saw this, I knew I wanted to fly.
I flew my first flight in the summer of 1989.
I made it to my first day of college, and it was amazing.
I got a degree in engineering and met my future wife.
My first job was with a company that made jet engines.
I was part of a group that developed an engine that powered the world’s first commercial jet.
When I retired, I went into aviation management consulting.
That was the next step in my life.
I started flying airplanes again and got a job at Boeing, where I helped them build the world-class 777X jetliner.
That airplane is still in production today, and I flew it for the last four years.
I have never flown in an airplane.
I’ve never taken an airplane off the ground.
I can’t imagine what it’s like to fly an airplane, but that’s what it is.
The dream of flying is the most amazing thing.
If you get a dream, you’ll be in the right place.
I’m flying planes, but not just to take photos or check out a runway.
Flying is the greatest feeling in the world.
I always try to make sure I have the best equipment, the best gear, and the best person I can fly with.
I want to be able to fly a plane and be proud of it.
I know flying can be fun, but the more I fly, the more important it becomes.
I like to have a good relationship with my family and friends.
I don’t want to make friends with people who hate me.
I also have an inner critic.
I’ll get frustrated if I do something wrong.
I need to be in control of my own destiny.
When people ask me, “Is this your dream?”
I say, “Yes, it is.”
I’m still young, and there are so many things I want in life.
But I have a lot of things in my future, too.
I would love to become a firefighter or a mechanic, a mechanic who helps people who can’t afford to do the job.
I’d love to go to graduate school, and then I’d be an astronaut.
I love flying and love doing it for people who have nothing.
I just want to fly as much as possible.
I think if I just kept flying, I wouldnt have had the best experience of my life and the worst relationship.
So far, flying is one of the things I’m doing that I would have liked to have more of a sense of purpose in life, a sense that it’s something I’m very excited about.
I am so grateful to have the opportunity to fly with this incredible company.
I enjoy flying and I would definitely love to do it again someday.
The best part about flying is that you never know what might happen.
I wish I could fly again and take that flight, too, but then I think of all the people who would love it.
It’s a wonderful feeling.
I really feel like I am flying, so there is no reason I shouldn’t.
I hope that someday, my dreams can come true.
